II. Requirements/Qualifications
1.The candidate should have deep love for the People’s Republic of China and distinguish himself/herself by his/her academic accuracy, integrity and morality.
2.The candidate should hold a doctor’s degree and is engaged in teaching and scientific research.
3.The candidate should be qualified for conducting the key courses.
4.The candidate should be of great academic attainments and has made achievements generally acknowledged by people of the same occupation.
5.The candidate should have potentials, creativity, vision and ability to lead his/her discipline to catch up with or surpass the international advanced level in its frontier area.
6.The candidate should have the team spirit, the spirit of dedication and hard struggle, and the ability to organize, manage and lead a team of innovation to tackle key problems with coordinated efforts. He/she should know well how to cultivate new talents and intensify the training of the second echelon of academic studies.
7.The candidate for “Cheung Kong Scholar” professorship in natural sciences should be younger than 45 years old and in social sciences younger than 50 years old. The candidate for the chair professorship in natural sciences should be no older than 55 years old and in social sciences no older than 60 years old.
8.The foreign candidate for “Cheung Kong Scholar” professorship should hold the assistant professorship or above (or a similar position) in universities and the domesticate candidate for it should hold professorship (or a similar position). The candidate for the chair professorship should be at least an associate professor (or hold a similar position) in universities.
9.The “Cheung Kong Scholar” professor should work in Anhui University for at least 9 months per year during the tenure of office. The chair professor should work in Anhui University for at least 2-3 months per year during the tenure of office.
III. Duties
1.The “Cheung Kong Scholar” professor should conduct key courses in his/her discipline for undergraduates and supervise the study and research of Master and Ph.D. candidates. The chair professor should give courses or lectures concerning the latest development of his/her discipline and supervise or assist the study and research of Master and Ph.D. candidates.
2.The “Cheung Kong Scholar” professor should keep abreast of the development of his/her discipline, put forward research proposals of creativity, foresightedness and strategic significance and lead his/her team to catch up with or surpass the international advanced level in the frontier area of the relevant discipline. The chair professor should offer consultation and suggestions concerning the development and the research focus of his/her discipline so that the studies in the relevant disciplines in Anhui University may keep abreast of the latest development internationally.
